Background: In a dramatic change of policy, the state is planning to make all Medicaid participants reapply in April and repeat the process every couple of months.  The timeline is too rushed and there is a staffing shortage to process applications in a timely manner.  This could kick tens of thousands of Montanans off Medicaid

• HB 609 will ensure that thousands of medicaid eligible Montanans are able to keep their healthcare coverage.

• The state’s current timeline is rushed and understaffed.  Montanan’s medicaid healthcare coverage is too important for mistakes and delays with applications.

• HB 609 saves the state time and money by making the medicaid application process more efficient.
