• Preserving and revitalizing languages are important to do now before they are gone forever

• Boarding schools where children were beaten for speaking their native language in the 19th and 20th century massively contributed to the loss of American Indian language, and now in the 21st century we have an opportunity to revitalize native language in Montana

• Children who learn their indigenous language are able to maintain critical ties to their culture, affirm their identity, and preserve important connections with older generations
