Yellowstone Democrats Central Committee Meeting and Special Convention

Join us for a special convention to fill a legislative vacancy! This event will start with a shortened central committee meeting. It will be in-person only. All Democratic members are invited to attend. Only precinct committee leaders will be able to nominate and vote on the legislative vacancy nominations that will be sent to the county commission.

Our Central Committee is the governing body of the County Democratic Party as defined in the Montana Government Code and Elections Code. It is comprised of local Democrats elected by voters in each County Precinct during Presidential Election years, as well as partisan-level Democratic elected officials and nominees. This group conducts the County Party’s general business, approves its budget, coordinates Democratic campaign activity, and endorses candidates for local offices.

To qualify as a nominee, it is not necessary to be a voting member. Nominees will be listed on a visible board in the order in which they are nominated.

Nominees do not need to be present, but must have a designee to accept the nomination and speak on the candidate’s behalf. The presiding Chairperson shall conduct the voting and appoint ballot counters as needed. A nominee may have an observer of the counting.
