FACT CHECK: Quist Is The Only Candidate Who Will Defend Our Right to Hunt On Public Lands

New Jersey multimillionaire Greg Gianforte continues to mislead voters about Rob Quist’s strong commitment to the Second Amendment, but Quist is the only candidate in this race who will defend our right to hunt on public lands and protect Montana’s public lands from private developers.

Quist earned a key endorsement from the Montana Sportsmen Alliance for his support for public lands and the Second Amendment.

Gianforte sued the people of Montana to eliminate public access to a stream near his property – closing off Montanans’ from the East Gallatin River – and refuses to outright oppose public land transfer. He also funded the Property and Environment Research Center (PERC), a group that works to undo Montana’s Stream Access laws, as well as the Foundation for Research on the Economy and the Environment (FREE), the Heritage Foundation, and Americans for Prosperity – groups that want to privatize forests and sell public lands.

Additionally, Gianforte made millions off a company building a gun registry.
