My name is Kevin Hamm, and I am deeply proud of this place we call home. So proud, in fact, that I’ve decided to ask for the honor of representing Montana in the United States House of Representatives.
I am not a politician. I did not build my name or my bank account on a foundation of inherited wealth. Like most Montanans, I had to get my hands dirty and build it myself. But while I may not have unlimited funds with which to pay for billboards advertising my name or lobbyists on speed dial ready to pull strings on my behalf, I do have a lifetime of experience advocating for all of you in every way that I possibly can.
In the past, I’ve heard Montana described as a stubbornly rational purple state. We have tended to split our political tickets more often than other states, and thanks to our population of extremely hard-working and community-oriented folks, we have sometimes seemed immune to the kind of political divisiveness that infects the democratic process elsewhere. Recently, it has felt as though there has been an effort to change that.
We’ve all endured a deluge of increasingly polarizing and fear-mongering political messages from every direction, and while some of those messages seem to have unfortunately taken root, I still believe that Montanans remain steadfast in our determination to value our laborers, our work ethic, our commitment to responsible stewardship of our beautiful state, and our deep appreciation for personal freedom and mutual respect. I still believe that Montanans hold these values to be more important than any political party or lobbyist-designed talking point, and that is why I believe that I am the right candidate for this place and for this moment.
Win or lose, I will never stop fighting for all of your best interests, because they are mine, too. I think it’s time that Montana has a representative with some skin in the game and something to lose. Together, I truly believe that we can make that happen. I can’t wait to get started.
